Menlo College Women's Basketball senior Laurel Donnenwirth earned a pair of national honors this week for her remarkable senior season. Following the season she nabbed honorable-mention accolades when the Women's Basketball Coaches Association named its All-Americans and earlier this afternoon the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) named her a Second Team All-American.
A native of Carmicheal, Calif., Donnenwirth was one of 58 players from the NAIA honored by the WBCA and one of 65 players honored by the NAIA. Donnenwirth, who was previously named the Cal Pac Player of the Year and a First Team All-Conference selection, did it all for the Oaks this season averaging 15.5 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. She added 14 blocks, 54 steals and 62 assists from her forward position and helped Menlo to its fourth-straight Cal Pac regular season title and fourth consecutive trip to the NAIA National Championships.
Additionally, she was fifth in the nation with 18 double-doubles and ranked ninth in total rebounds per game with 10.5. She finishes her career second in the Menlo College record books in points (1,593), first in rebounds (1,166) and ranks in the top ten in 13 other career categories. Donnenwirth was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American following her junior season in 2013-14.
