Menlo College Volleyball freshman standout Emily Sunada garnered another award recently as she was named to the AVCA All-Southwest Region team. This comes on the heels of Sunada's recent All-GSAC honor, making her the lone Oak to crack the list.

Sunada had a fantastic freshman season in which she was one of three highly-touted freshmen from Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawaii who made their mark immediately. She finished the year with 198 kills on 438 swings (.349) which placed her second on the team in total kills and first in hitting percentage. Sunada also had a team-best 74 total blocks which included 61 block assists and 13 solo blocks. Her 74 total blocks ties her for eighth in a single season in Menlo history. Her efforts helped the Oaks to a fifth place finish in the conference, improving on seventh place finish a season ago.

Menlo finished the 2016 season 15-15 overall and 7-9 in the highly competitive Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC).
