ORANGE, CA – A 3-0 Oaks lead going into the sixth inning got nixed as the University of Texas at Dallas softball team rallied for a 6-3 victory in the Sun West Tournament held by Chapman University.

Menlo struck first, picking up a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Leftfielder Meagen Kincaid singled up the middle, stole second base and reached third after shortstop Megan Pacchetti singled with a bunt. Pacchetti reached second with a stolen base. Centerfielder Susanne Thomsen singled to the left field to knock in two runs.

The Oaks tacked on another run in the fifth inning. With two outs, Pacchetti singled to shortstop to bring Kincaid across the plate after she reached on a fielder’s choice.

The Comets lucky number for the day was six as they scored six runs off six hits in the top of the sixth inning. UTD’s senior Andrina Arenas hit her seventh homerun of the year to begin the inning.

At the plate, Menlo and UTD each had eight hits apiece, all singles except for Arenas’s homerun. Thomsen, Kincaid and Pacchetti each had two hits.

The Oaks wrap-up their five-day Southern California trip with a 2 p.m. game today against Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks.
