ATHERTON, Calif. - Senior point guard Chris Cobb was selected to the All-California Pacific Conference men's basketball team as voted by the league's coaches it was announced Tuesday.

Cobb, a four-year player for the Oaks, averaged 8.3 points and 3.2 assists in conference play while providing key leadership that has enabled Menlo to reach the second round of the Cal Pac Tournament. The sixth-seeded Oaks (8-18, 5-11) play at third-seeded Dominican (15-12, 11-5) tonight at 7:30 p.m.

A 5-foot-8-inch sparkplug, Cobb has been the Oaks on-court leader since taking over the reigns at point guard late in his freshman season. From that point on Cobb has started 83-of-84 games, helping Menlo win the Cal Pac Tournament and reach the NAIA National Championship Tournament during the 2007-08 season.

This season Cobb has come through with some of his finest games against top competition, netting a season high of 14 points on three separate occasions. Cobb's first scoring outburst helped the Oaks hand CSU-East Bay one of its two conference losses on Dec. 17. Two nights later he put the same number up again as Menlo defeated its highest ranked opponent ever in No. 5 Rio Grande at Hoop N Surf Honoulu. With its season on the line last Thursday during Senior Night, Cobb reached his season high again in an upset over third-place Dominican.

An Honorable Mention All-Cal Pac selection last season, Cobb has become one of the most accomplished players in program history. Cobb holds school records for 3-pointers made (165) and attempted (400) in a career, is fourth all-time in assists (227), sixth in steals (106), and seventh in 3-point field goal percentage (.412).
