Menlo at San Francisco State - Game StatsSAN FRANCISCO - In its season opener on Thursday, Menlo College gritted its way through a scoreless first half before succumbing after halftime to a trio of goals in a 3-0 loss to NCAA Div. II San Francisco State.
The Oaks gave the homestanding Gators all they could handle until the floodgates opened late. Menlo is now 0-1 on the season while San Francisco State improves to 3-1.
Pat Conte made five saves in goal for the Oaks, who were limited to four shots. Cesar Garcia got off two of Menlo's shots himself while Said Karimzad and Jaime Pagen each fired once on goal.
Dylan Glass scored and had an assist to lead the Gators while Spencer Schwandt and Antonio Ugarte added one score apiece. Substitutes Manny Murillo and Sylvestre Arias each provided an assist.
Menlo returns to action at Cal State Stanislaus on Sunday at 6 p.m. in Turlock, Calif.
