ATHERTON, Calif. - Menlo College had three of its athletic teams named as 2009-10 NAIA Scholar Teams when the announcement was made by the NAIA on Tuesday. The Oaks women's basketball, volleyball, and men's basketball teams each earned the distinction for their efforts in the classroom.
In order to be honored as an NAIA Scholar Team, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. During the 2009-10 academic year the Oaks women's basketball team posted a 3.16 GPA while volleyball recorded a 3.07 GPA and men's basketball a 3.02 GPA. This is the second consecutive year that Menlo's women's basketball team has earned the honor.
Menlo College is one of 100 schools to have at least three teams recognized. A total of 12 teams from the California Pacific Conference are 2009-10 NAIA Scholar Teams with Menlo, Mills, Holy Names, and Bethany represented on the list.
