Day two of the Inaugural Menlo Invitational mirrored day one with three exciting contests to serve as a more than adequate encore.  Among the headlines were a big time clash between two undefeated foes, a finale that came down to the wire, and a Lady Oak who scored her first career goal in Menlo blue.

In the day's opener the Lady Oaks were still looking for that first elusive win at 0-6, and from the get go it just didn't seem like it would be Menlo's day.  Corban University picked up three goals in the span of just ten minutes midway through the first half to take the commanding 3-0 lead.  Paving the way for the Lady Warriors were juniors Brittany Bowman and Allison Knotts along with sophomore Audrey Sullivan.  Bowman was responsible for the first score while assisting on the second one in which Sullivan found the back of the net for her second goal of the tournament.  As far as Knotts is concerned, gave Corban the eventual 3-0 halftime advantage. 

In the second frame the Lady Oaks attempted to put up a fight as junior Alison Hammond scored her first goal in her brief Menlo collegiate career to cut the deficit to 4-1 at the time, but it still wouldn't be enough as the Warriors finished the job with a 5-1 victory. 

With the loss the Lady Oaks fall to 0-7 on the season with one more non conference game looming before they get their Cal Pac schedule going against the Red Hawks of Simpson University next Saturday.  For Head Coach Scott Myers, he took an optimistic outlook on the challenging non-conference mark.  "We stared a tough schedule in the face and attacked it," claimed Myers.  "We were able to play well at times but ultimately I believe that these games will allow us to do what we need to in conference."

The middle game of the three saw two undefeated powerhouses in Bellevue University and Vanguard University square up for the right to stay perfect.  Vanguard was able to take a 1-0 lead into the break thanks to a 16^th minute goal by Lauren Skachenko on a beautiful ball by Rachel Rucireta who was credited with the assist. 

In the second stanza the two teams played like they were undefeated as the intensity continued to build in the 1-0 heated affair.  Bellevue couldn't seem to capitalize on a couple of opportunities and then in the span of just four minutes Vanguard took the air out of the Bruins tires.  An Amanda Couch score in the 76^th minute was quickly followed with Skachenko's second goal of the afternoon and fourth in the span of only four days in the 81^st minute to put things out of reach at 3-0.  With the win the Lions stay perfect, now at 6-0.   

In the finale, 12^th ranked Masters College and Menlo's Cal Pac nemesis Holy Names engaged in a back and forth battle with neither team willing to budge.  After the Mustangs took a 2-1 lead into the locker room, a Holy Names own goal extended that mark at 3-1 and almost took the air out of the Hawks sails.  HNU refused to quit however as freshman mid-fielder Rebecca Hernandez found the back of the net in the 64^th minute after a deflection set things up to cut the lead in half now at 3-2.  With the momentum now shifting in favor of the Hawks, the Masters really stepped up and weathered the storm on their way to holding Holy Names off the board for the game's final 25 minutes to record their 6^th "W" of the year.

Overall the Inaugural Menlo Invitational will go down as one to remember as a number of nationally ranked opponents stormed the Wunderlich Field pitch, putting on a show for all the fans to see.
