ATHERTON, CA – 10/30/01 – Linda Nyguen proved once again that she is Menlo’s top runner. With her win at Friday’s California Pacific Conference Cross Country Championship, she can now claim she is the fastest in the conference.

Nguyen finished the 5,000 meter run in a time of 21 minutes and 48 seconds. That time is the second best for her this season, as she finished the CSU-Monterey Bay Invitational in a time of 21:15.

Nyguen’s time was about a minute better than that of the next fastest runner, Holy Names’ Andrea Weaver. Oak teammate Michelle Rovira also competed, finishing the race in a time of 27 minutes, 41 seconds. After the event, Coach Trevor Hoppe commented, “I am really proud of both Linda and Michelle. They both have worked hard this season.”

For the season, the only meet that Nyguen did not finish first in was the Mills Cross Country Invitational, an event that she did not participate in.
