ATHERTON, CA. –4/7/2005- The Menlo College football program announced its 2005 schedule today in Atherton. The Oaks will play 10 games this upcoming fall, four of which will come against teams from the Northwest Conference, the conference that Menlo will join in 2006. Menlo will host four games this season with one of those, a match up with San Diego on October 1st, to be held at San Jose City College.

Menlo begins the 2005 campaign September 3rd with a trip Abilene, Texas for a battle with McMurray University. That game is scheduled for a 7:00 PM kick off.

The following week, the Oaks host their first game of the year when Humboldt State travels in to Atherton for a 12:30 PM kick off. On October 1st, Menlo will take on the University of San Diego at 12:30 PM, but this game will take place at San Jose City College.

Homecoming is scheduled for October 8th with the Oaks taking on Cal Lutheran at 12:30 PM and Senior Day will be held on October 29th, as the Oaks host the 2004 Division III National Champion Linfield Wildcats. Willamette, Whitworth, and Pacific Lutheran are all on the schedule from the Northwest Conference as well.

Road trips to Whittier and Colorado College complete the 10-game schedule.

Head Coach Mark Kaanapu knows that the 2005 schedule will be one of the most difficult in recent years, but he knows the Oaks will be up to the challenge.

”This is the toughest schedule that Menlo has ever faced since becoming a four-year school. The team knows it and sees it as a great challenge. It will really give us a good idea of where we stack up with some of the best talent in the country.”
