SAN RAFAEL – Senior forward Mike Sharabi and the Menlo College men’s soccer team struck first but Concordia University scored five unanswered goals in a 7-3 defeat of the Oaks Friday in a match hosted at Dominican University.

Sharabi, who tallied Menlo’s lone shot in a 4-0 loss at Division I Sacramento State Wednesday, struck an unassisted goal for the Oaks (3-3) in the ninth minute.

The lead was short-lived, however, as Josh Bickel found the back of the net for the Eagles a minute later. Concordia went on to score four consecutive goals – five, counting Isaac Wels’ own goal – for a 5-2 halftime advantage.

Forwards Aiden O’Flynn and Gary Hodgson added second-half goals but the early deficit was too much to overcome for the Oaks, who were outshot 22-7.

Menlo wraps up a two-game series in San Rafael against Embry Riddle (Ariz.) at 3 p.m. on Sat., Sept. 24.
