SAN RAFAEL – Freshman forward Gary Hodgson’s unassisted 105th-minute goal snapped the Menlo College men’s soccer team’s three-game losing streak as the Oaks defeated Embry Riddle (Ariz.), 2-1, in double-overtime Saturday in a match hosted by Dominican University.

Reid Kanda put the Eagles up 1-0 in the 11th minute, converting a header from a Rosendo Orozco free kick.

Mike Sharabi struck back for the Oaks in the 71st minute as the senior forward received a throw-in from Todd Jones and beat his defender to tie the match, 1-1.

The Oaks (4-3) outshot the Eagles 20-9 with junior Aiden O’Flynn pacing Menlo with six attempts.

Menlo returns to action Mon., Sept. 26 against Cal State Maritime. Match time at Wunderlich Field in Atherton is set for 3:30 p.m.
