ATHERTON, CA – The Menlo College men’s basketball team dropped their Cal Pac opener tonight at Haynes-Prim Pavilion to Dominican University of California, 72-60.

Sophomore guard Chris Cobb finished the night with 11 points, making three shots from behind the arc. Senior Israel Torres led the Oaks with six boards.

Freshman guard Michael Johnson led the Penguins with 15 points and five rebounds.

Dominican, who led 44-36 at halftime, shot 62 percent to the Oaks 42% in the first half. Menlo grabbed 13 offensive boards while Dominican ended the night with only five.

Last year, Menlo ended Dominican's season, who were the Cal Pac Conference regular season champs, with a 64-49 victory in the semi-finals of the conference post-season tournament on February 24, 2006.

The Oaks (3-5/0-1 Cal Pac) wrap-up their five-game home stand with games both Friday and Saturday night. On Friday they host Simpson University followed by Bethany University on Saturday. Tip-off for both games is at 7:30 p.m.
