Senior Israel earns 2nd double-double of season

HAYWARD, CA – Leading scorer junior Bryon Wesley had 19 points as Menlo rode a strong second half performance to a 81-66 victory against Cal Pac opponent, Cal State East Bay, tonight.

Senior Israel Torres earned his second double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 boards. Off the bench Cody Christensen added 14 points, making four of six from behind the 3-point line. Junior point guard Chris Cobb also registered double-digits for the Oaks with 10 points.

Starting the second half with a 44-38 lead, the Oaks shot an impressive 55% from the field and outrebounding the Pioneers 21-19. The Oaks finished the game tying a season-high 19 assists along with 38 rebounds and eight steals.

The Oaks held CSUEB’s leading scorer, freshman Will Freedman, to only 18 points and nine rebounds.

Menlo (5-5/1-1 Cal Pac) continues Cal Pac schedule on Saturday as they compete against Cal State Maritime Academy. Tip-off is at 3 p.m.
