Senior Aaron Gentry Grabbed a Career-High 20 Rebounds

ATHERTON, CA – The Menlo College men’s basketball team fell 70-66 in overtime to William Jessup University, currently undefeated in Cal Pac Conference play, tonight at Haynes-Prim Pavilion.

Menlo led 36-26 at half, with the largest scoring margin of 12 points in the Oaks' favor.

At the 3-minute mark senior Israel Torres made both off his free throws, giving the Oaks a 58-54 lead. The Warriors answered with back-to-back three-pointers by senior Joseph Mitchell and sophomore Lucas Bichard to take a two-point lead. With only 37 second left, junior Byron Wesley drove to the basket elevating over two Warriors to nail the jumper and force overtime.

In overtime, the Warriors ran out to a six-point lead. The Oaks cut the lead to one with a minute left but William Jessup scored three more points from free throws for a 70-66 victory.

Menlo outrebounded William Jessup, 38-23.

Senior Aaron Gentry led the Oaks with 17 points and a career-high 20 rebounds. Torres added 16 points and five steals while Wesley finished with 13 points.

Mitchell, the Cal Pac Conference scoring leader, led the Warriors with 18 points and nine rebounds.

The Oaks (6-7/2-3 Cal Pac) host Bethany on Tuesday, a game that was originally scheduled for December 16, 2006. Tip-off is at 8 p.m.
