Senior Israel Torres Is 2nd In The Conference in Blocked Shots

OAKLAND, CA – The Menlo College men’s basketball team suffered a tough loss to Holy Names University, 52-48, on Thursday night at Tobin Gym.

After being down 24-28 at halftime, the Oaks answered by forcing 11 of the Hawks 20 turnovers in the second half.

Menlo led in both steals (9) and assists (11) but were outrebounded 35-32 by the Hawks.

Senior Israel Torres led the Oaks with 14 points along with seven rebounds. Junior Bryon Wesley added 10 points while senior Aaron Gentry had a team-high eight boards.

"I am proud of the way our team controlled the tempo and defended throughout the duration of the game,” stated Menlo College Head Coach Brandon Laird, “but we failed to execute offensively during the last five minutes of the game".

Menlo (7-8/3-4 Cal Pac) takes on Dominican University next Thursday. In their previous meeting, the Penguins defeated the Oaks, 72-60. The game begins at 7:30 p.m.
