Senior Jarin Beck Looks To End College Career On High Note

ATHERTON, CA – The Menlo College men’s golf team will travel down to Indio, California to compete in the NAIA Regional Tournament this Monday and Tuesday at the Terra Lago Golf Course. The first day of competition, the golfers will play 36 holes followed by 18 holes the next day.

Menlo qualified for the NAIA Region II tournament after finishing third in the California Pacific Tournament. No. 21 Holy Names University and Dominican University of California will also be representing the Cal Pac. 2006 Regional Champion The Master’s College will be looking for a repeat performance. No. 5 Point Loma Nazarene University, No. 13 Cal State San Marcos, Concordia University, and Cal Baptist University will also be sending teams.

Top finishers for the Oaks last year were Cameron Lawrence and Jarin Beck who finished 24th and 25th respectively. Lawrence’s best came on the last day, when he shot a 75 to finish the tournament with a score of 243 (27 over par). Beck on the other hand shot his best in the first 18 holes with a score of 76 but wrapped up the tournament with a 245 (29 over par).

Also competing for the Oaks at Regionals are senior Marc Smith, junior Joachim Sunberg, and freshman Andreas Carlgren

“We are very excited for this opportunity to compete at the regional level,” commented head coach Bill Imwalle. “We will be going up against some very talented golfers”.

The regional team champion and individual medallist qualify for the 2007 NAIA National Championship, May 22-25, at the Indiana National Golf Club in Plymouth, Indiana.
