INDIO, CA – After beginning the tournament with 30 to 40 mile winds on Monday morning, the Menlo College men’s golf team finished their 2007 season with a eighth place finish at the NAIA Region II Championships held at Terra Lago Golf Course on April 23rd and 24th.

The Oaks made their second consecutive postseason appearance, finishing seventh at last years championships.

Senior Marc Smith led the Oaks, finishing 31st in the tournament with a 244. Freshman Andreas Carlgren posted the lowest round score for Menlo with a five-over par 77 on Tuesday morning.

No. 12 CSU-San Marcos came back after posting a fifth place finish the first day to secure the title after carding a 291 in the last round of the tournament. Backed by a first-round one over par 73, Point Loma Nazarene sophomore Sam Cyr finished with a 223 to capture the individual title after taking second as a freshman.

Menlo advanced to the Region II Championships by finishing third in the April 5 California Pacific Conference Tournament.
