ATHERTON, Calif. – Home wasn’t sweet enough for Menlo College to pick up its first victory of the season as it struggled offensively in a 66-41 home-opening loss to College of Idaho in a non-conference game on Friday night at Haynes-Prim Pavilion.

The Oaks managed to neutralize the Coyotes size advantage, but were forced into 24 turnovers by College of Idaho’s intense defense. Menlo shot 27.1 percent from the floor and were playing catch-up nearly the entire game.

Julian Harris led the Oaks with 12 points, making three 3-pointers, while Kyle Adams added nine points and as many rebounds. Jordan Stokes and Steffen Spinks each had 17 for the Coyotes with Craig McGee chipping in 11 and Kelvin Potts 10.

Though Menlo never caught up after entering the second half down 15 points, it kept up the defensive pressure to force 21 College of Idaho turnovers in the game.

Menlo, 0-3, plays at Notre Dame de Namur on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. College of Idaho is 2-5 on the season.
