Menlo vs. Biola - Game Stats

FRESNO, Calif. - Menlo College closed out its first day of competition at Fresno Pacific's Sunbird Invitational on Friday night with a 25-8, 25-12, 25-17 loss to No. 20 Biola.

The Oaks dropped to 0-2 on the season when it couldn't quite keep up with the powerhouse Eagles. Biola, which reached the semifinals of the NAIA Championships last season and compete in the loaded Golden State Athletic Conference, is 5-1 after winning its fifth straight following a season-opening loss to No. 23 Doane (NE).

Stephanie Williamson led Menlo with nine assists while Deborah Bekowies and Sarah Poole finished with five and four kills, respectively. Kelsey Bailey and Shelby Goldman each had nine digs with Mia Ortiz adding eight digs paired with three kills.

Biola had four players with between six and eight kills. Justine Schoneveld led the way with 31 assists.

Menlo continues tournament play on Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest versus the top-ranked defending national champions and host Fresno Pacific. At 5 p.m. the Oaks battle No. 26 Southern Oregon.
