Menlo at La Sierra - Match One StatsMenlo at La Sierra - Match Two StatsRIVERSIDE, Calif. - It took no time at all for Menlo College to finish off its weekend trip through Southern California without a blemish as the Oaks defeated La Sierra on back-to-back days without losing a game to complete the trip with three wins in as many matches.
Menlo won Saturday evening 25-6, 25-7, 25-10, and on Sunday morning 25-6, 25-8, 25-10. The wins bumped the Oaks record to 3-4 overall heading into their home opener on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against former California Pacific Conference foe Dominican.
It was a dominant effort by Menlo from start to finish at La Sierra. The Oaks outclassed the home side in every way, finishing the two games with a combined team hitting percentage of .466 as compared to La Sierra's -.084.
Deborah Bekowies had 18 kills in 23 attempts for a .783 hitting percentage, Sarah Poole had 13 kills at a clip of .688, and Katie Pendley had 15 kills with a .538 hitting percentage. Setter Stephanie Williamson spread the wealth around with 27 assists in the first match and 28 more in the second. The Oaks had a team hitting percentage of at least .417 in all six games played.
Menlo defeated Occidental in five games on Friday for its first victory of the season.
