Menlo at Holy Names - Game StatsMenlo Season StatsOAKLAND, Calif. - Following a slow start on the back of a pair of tough non-conference losses earlier in the week, Menlo College took three straight games to start California Pacific Conference play on a winning note, defeating Holy Names, 13-25, 25-12, 25-19, 28-26, on Friday night.
The Oaks jump to 1-0 in conference action and 4-7 overall while Holy Names is 0-1 and 2-9. Menlo returns to action Saturday at 7 p.m. versus Mills (0-1, 1-3).
Reigning Cal Pac Player of the Year picked up the 2009 conference season where she left off in 2008, finishing with 18 kills in 22 attempts for a .727 hitting percentage. Bekowies added a pair of blocks. Stephanie Williamson had a game-high 26 assists while Kelsey Bailey finished with seven kills and 10 digs. Sarah Poole had six kills and five blocks, Katie Pendley had five kills, and Mia Ortiz totaled 22 digs.
Ashley Nickell and Rebecca Chase tallied 11 and nine kills, respectively, with Ariel Carmichael adding eight for the Hawks.
