Menlo at Dominican - Game StatsSAN RAFAEL, Calif. - In a match that couldn't have been much closer, Menlo College fell short in all three games of a 25-19, 26-24, 28-26 non-conference loss at Dominican on Thursday night.
The Oaks fall to 6-9 overall and will look to improve upon their 3-0 California Pacific Conference mark at William Jessup Friday night at 7 p.m. Dominican, which competes at the NCAA Div. II level, is 4-14 overall.
Menlo led in each game against the Penguins, but couldn't put the finishing touch on late. The Oaks led by four points early in game one and were tied at 16 before Dominican closed out the game on a 9-3 run. In game two, Menlo had game point twice and never trailed until the Penguins scored their 25th point. The third game was a nip-and-tuck battle that saw the Oaks surrender the final two points and the match.
Deborah Bekowies led Menlo with 18 kills while Kelsey Bailey added 10 kills and 12 digs. Setter Stephanie Williamson totaled 26 assists while Mia Ortiz finished with 15 digs and Sarah Poole six kills.
