REDDING, Calif. - Locked in scoreless battle through an hour of play, Menlo College surrendered three late goals in a 3-0 California Pacific Conference loss at Simpson on Saturday.

The Oaks fell behind when Courtney Opie netted the first goal of the match in the 61st minute. Opie added her second in the 67th minute before the Red Hawks closed out the scoring on Christina Blackburn's 83rd-minute strike.

 

Menlo finished with more shots (16-13) and shots on goal (8-7) than Simpson, but couldn't find the back of the net. Megan Wells took a team-high four shots and had two denied. Lacey Musante and Megan McKee also had two shots on goal saved. Paige Cruz made four saves in the goal for Menlo.

 

The Oaks are now 2-2-1 in the Cal Pac and 4-8-1 overall. Menlo hosts Holy Names at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Simpson is 2-2 and 5-6.
