REDDING, Calif. - A resilient Menlo College side fought back from a goal down to defeat Simpson 2-1 in California Pacific Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Oaks completed the reversal of fortune in the second half when Said Karimzad scored in the 57th minute to give Menlo its first lead. Just before halftime the Oaks tied the score when Carlos Ramirez found the goal from a Jaime Pagen assist.

 

The game was tight throughout, though Menlo held on late. The Oaks defense limited the Red Hawks to just five shots on goal, four of which were turned away by goalkeeper Brian Periman.

 

Menlo is now 3-3 in the Cal Pac and 3-9 overall heading into a match with conference leader Holy Names on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Simpson is 2-3 and 2-7.
