OAKLAND, Calif. - It took a half, but Menlo College finally showed its class in scoring three second-half goals to defeat Mills 4-1 on the road in a California Pacific Conference contest on Saturday afternoon.
The Oaks improve to 3-3-1 in the Cal pac and 5-9-1 overall while Mills is 1-6 and 2-10-1. Menlo hosts Bethany at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
Menlo fell behind in the 28th minute when Rachel Dorney scored on a free kick. 11 minutes later the Oaks equalized through Jasmine Norouzi from a Grace Kilpatrick assist.
With the score even at 1-1 entering the second half, Menlo showed its class in taking a 54th-minute lead on a Megan Wells goal off a Lacey Musante assist. Musante doubled the Oaks lead with a goal in the 75th minute and Christine Rodriguez finished the scoring with a goal in the 81st. Paige Cruz made two saves in goal for Menlo.
