The juniors received mention for the offensive and defensive awards, respectively, as the Oaks moved above .500 in NWC play for the first time ever. Menlo is 2-1 in conference and 3-4 overall, having won three of four games since a 0-3 start to the season under first-year head coach Fred Guidici.

Bell, a transfer from Santa Rosa Junior College, had his best game as an Oak, finishing with 76 yards on 19 carries and scoring the game-winning touchdown from one yard out midway through the fourth quarter. Bell leads Menlo with 263 yards and three touchdowns on the ground this season.

Winters has become a fixture on the NWC Student-Athletes of the Week list, making his third appearance of the season and second in a row. He earned the top honor two weeks ago following Menlo's victory at Puget Sound and earned honorable mention prior to that. Against Whitworth, Winters finished with nine tackles - including eight solo stops - three sacks and three tackles for loss. On the season, he has 31 tackles, 10 ½ tackles for loss, and six sacks.

Menlo returns home this weekend to face Lewis & Clark on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Connor Field. With a victory the Oaks will clinch their first .500 or better record in Northwest Conference play.
