Fulp-Allen leads three Oaks in the WCWA Preseason Individual Rankings, ranking No. 1 at 51 kg after a banner 2008-09 campaign. Junior Brittany Caoile is ranked third at 95 kg, sophomore Rebecca Medeiros is eighth at 72 kg, and sophomore transfer Aubree Sutherland is eighth at 82 kg, though she is currently out with injury. No team rankings have been released.
"I feel that we have wrestlers who are capable of moving up in the rankings," Head Coach Lee Allen said. "We have talented wrestlers who can place in upcoming tournaments."
Competitively, Fulp-Allen was one of two Oaks grapplers to hit the mat a day earlier than the rest of the team on Friday at the Sunkist International Open in Phoenix, Ariz. The senior was joined by junior Jacquelyn Davis at the event. A current member of the U.S. National Team, Fulp-Allen lost in the opening round at 51 kg to the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler, Genevieve Haley of Canada, before losing to another Canadian, Jennifer Nguyen, in the consolation bracket.
Davis, competing at 55 kg, lost her first match to silver medalist Jillian Gallays of Team Canada and later fell to Brianne Barry of London Western Wrestling Club.
During Saturday's intrasquad event, 17 matches took place in two rounds of competition with Fulp-Allen taking out some aggression on her teammates as she won all three of her matches without surrendering a point. Brittany Caoile also survived the day without a blemish in two matches.
Fulp-Allen and Davis will return to the international arena on Nov. 7 when they take part in the Hargobind International in Surrey, British Columbia. The following day the entire Menlo team will wrestle in the Mike Clock Open on the Pacific University campus in Forest Grove, Ore.
