ATHERTON, Calif. - Senior defender Dominic Mitchell was named California Pacific Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his sustained effort in the middle of the Menlo College defense throughout the season as much as for helping the Oaks to a 3-1 victory over Bethany last week.
Mitchell has excelled in the demanding role of center back, using his combination of size, speed and savvy with the ball at his feet to stymie Menlo's opposition. The senior has also added punch to the Oaks attack, scoring once while managing 19 shots and eight shots on goal.
Menlo is 5-4 in the Cal Pac and 5-10 overall heading into a match at Pacific Union (7-1-1, 7-2-1) on Wednesday at Pacific Union. The Oaks host William Jessup (5-3-1, 6-7-1) for their Senior Day on Saturday at 3 p.m.
