ATHERTON, Calif. - Senior outside hitter Katie Pendley was named California Pacific Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after helping Menlo College to a pair of wins that capped off a 12-0 conference season last week.
Pendley led the Oaks with 18 kills - a personal best - in a four-set home victory over William Jessup that clinched the Cal Pac regular season title and a spot in the Cal Pac Tournament championship match that Menlo will host on Saturday night at 7 p.m. inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion. She followed that effort with 10 kills in a one-sided Cal Pac finale at Simpson the following night. For the week, Pendley totaled 28 kills, nine digs and a block while posting a hitting percentage of .368.
A junior college transfer in her second year at Menlo, Pendley has been a fixture in the starting lineup that has won 26 consecutive Cal Pac matches dating through last season while posting back-to-back perfect conference marks. The Oaks hold a 16-9 overall record and have won 10 consecutive matches heading into Saturday's decider. The winning team that night will be the official Cal Pac champion and earn the conference's automatic berth into the 36-team NAIA National Championship.
