ATHERTON, Calif. - A pair of Menlo College seniors were selected First Team All-California Pacific Conference when the team was announced Thursday evening. Forward Said Karimzad and central defender Dominic Mitchell earned the accolade while three other Oaks were also honored by the Cal Pac.

Senior forward Cesar Garcia and freshman defender Bernardo Horne were selected Second Team All-Cal Pac while freshman forward Carlos Ramirez drew Honorable Mention. Menlo's five honorees helped the team finish in fourth place in the Cal Pac, just one point behind William Jessup. The Oaks finished the season 7-5 in conference play and 7-11 overall.

Karimzad led Menlo in scoring and helped turn the team's fortune after a winless non-conference slate. The wily forward netted six goals, including an impressive home double in a 4-0 victory over Simpson in the Oaks season finale. Karimzad also had one assist on the season.

A savvy defender, Mitchell was the heart of Menlo's defense for the second consecutive season. Mitchell displayed a rare combination of speed, strength and finesse while also helping the Oaks attack. In the final match of his Menlo career, Mitchell doubled his season scoring total when he headed home a goal from a Garcia cross for the Oaks fourth and final goal of the match.

Garcia earned his second consecutive Second Team All-Cal Pac selection after finishing second on the team in goals (4) and first in assists (4). Possibly the Oaks best ball handler, Garcia used his tricky footwork to supply Menlo's attack with plenty of chances. In addition to closing out his career with two assists against Simpson, the senior forward also scored the winner on Senior Day when he forced his way through the William Jessup defense before slotting a one-on-one chance into the net.

What Horne lacked in size he more than made up for with speed and tenacity. The left back covered plenty of ground in defense for Menlo and also netted a goal in limited time as a forward, pushing himself to the point of exhaustion. Horne was one of only three freshmen selected to an All-Cal Pac.

The speedy Ramirez scored three goals and had an assist in his first year in a Menlo uniform.
