ATHERTON, Calif. - Menlo College junior midfielder Kelsey Hannon was named a 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete it was announced on Friday.
 

Hannon, a Burlingame, Calif. native who attended Burlingame High, earned the honor - the NAIA equivalent of an Academic All-American - for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale while achieving junior academic status. She is just the second Oaks women's soccer player to receive the honor, which is bestowed upon student-athletes who meet the academic criteria and are nominated by their coach.

 

After missing all but five matches during her sophomore season with a knee injury, Hannon returned to the pitch in 2009 to play in 12 matches for Menlo, starting three times. Patrolling the midfield, Hannon finished the season with eight shots and five shots on goal for the Oaks, who finished 6-3-1 in the California Pacific Conference and 8-9-1 overall.

 

Hannon is Menlo's 42nd Academic All-American of the decade.
