OKLAHOMA CITY - Three of the six Menlo College wrestlers competing at the NAIA National Championships remain in the hunt for hardware through two sessions at Oklahoma City University's Abe Lemons Arena. Senior Cody Gibson, junior Jason Moorhouse, and sophomore Christian Martinez are each competing in the wrestleback portion of their bracket.

At 125 pounds, Moorhouse won his first two matches by comfortable decisions yesterday to advance to the quarterfinals, but dropped a heartbreaker by a 4-2 sudden-victory decision to Notre Dame College's Tyler Savage. Moorhouse will wait for his first wrestleback opponent to be determined before taking him on this evening. If Moorhouse wins that match he guarantees himself a top eight finish and at least Honorable Mention All-American status.

Martinez also took his first two matches via lopsided decisions at 141, but fell to Notre Dame's Adam Koballa 7-3 in today's quarterfinals. Like Moorhouse, Martinez' next opponent in the wrestleback has work to do before reaching the Oaks grappler tonight. One victory will guarantee a top eight finish for Martinez as well.

Cody Gibson remains in the hunt at 149 after dropping his second match by a 3-2 decision. Gibson already responded by winning his first wrestleback match by a 9-6 decision over Simon Fraser's Alex Stemer. Gibson has more work to do and must win two more matches to lock up a top eight finish.

Junior Adrian Gonzales won three matches before bowing out at 165 while seniors Josh Emmett (157) and Mike Cavanaugh (174) were each eliminated after winning one match. Menlo is currently 23rd in the team standings.

Session three begins at 6 p.m. local time (4 p.m. PST) with the consolation fourth and fifth rounds. All three remaining Menlo wrestlers will take part in the session with a chance to lock up a shot at placing.
