REDDING, Calif. - Menlo College used a strong showing from sophomore Kamalu Kaina to place fourth in the team standings at the Simpson University Invitational on Sunday at Tierra Oaks Golf Club in a California Pacific Conference event.
 

Kaina was the Oaks top finisher, firing a 171 over two rounds on the par 72 course to place 12th in the individual results. After opening with an 88, Kaina shot an 83 in the second round. Brandon McCracken placed 18th after shooting a 176 (92-84) while Mark Mizoguchi was 19th after posting Menlo's best individual round of the day (81) to start the event. Mizoguchi ended the tournament with a 178 total.

 

Rich Tamborini (187) and Cody Grimes (193) placed 22nd and 23rd, respectively, for the Oaks.

 

Holy Names won the event with a final team score of 595, or 19 over par, winning each round en route to the tournament title. The Hawks were aided greatly by Garrett True (71-71) and Robbie Bendorf (71-75), who were the top two finishers at the end of each round.

 

William Jessup (634) placed second followed by Simpson (647), Menlo (710), and California Maritime (828).

 

Menlo will compete again at the Cal Pac Championship on April 8.
