ANGWIN, Calif. - In its first meet of the new season, the Menlo College women's cross country team placed fifth at the Pacific Union College Invitational on Friday afternoon.

The Oaks finished behind fellow California Pacific Conference foes Simpson, who finished first; second-place Mills; third-place William Jessup; and fourth-place Pacific Union. It was a challenging trail for all runners along its five kilometers.

Sherylyn Sabado was Menlo's best runner in the event, placing 17th out of 33 competitors with a time of 25:54. Chanelle Alarcon finished 29th in 29:51, Keaton Long was 31st in 36:14, Alanna Colon was 32nd in 39:21, and Rebecca Medeiros was 33rd in 41:08.

William Jessup's Corissa Jacomini placed first in 21:36, followed by Mills' Angie Sandoval (22:04), Simpson's Rebecca Studebaker (22:39), teammate Kimberly Spencer (22:43), and Pacific Union's Sophia Grise (23:23).
