Looking to make it three straight, the Lady Oaks traveled to Rocklin, CA for a showdown against conference nemesis William Jessup.  The potential for a classic was in the making as two intense periods were not enough to decide a winner.  Overtime was the answer and not even two minutes into the extra frame it was Jessup who wrapped things up behind a winner by senior Lindsey Cesena with the assist given to fellow senior Jacque Cassell.

The heartbreaking defeat is especially bruising when you consider the Oaks held a 1-0 halftime advantage.  Menlo junior Alison Hammond found herself one on one with a Warriors' defender in the 27th minute and thanks to a sterling crossover, Hammond found the back of the net for her third score of the season to give the Lady Oaks the 1-0 lead.

Early in the second stanza Jessup answered with a 51st minute goal by junior Alyssa Wimmer on a beautiful ball by sophomore Emily Fernandez to knot the battle at one a piece.  Fresh off her Defensive Cal Pac Player of the Week selection, freshman goal keeper Arielle Peraza put together a solid performance in net, allowing the one regulation score while saving seven before overtime sank the Oaks.

With the painful defeat Menlo drops to 1-1 in the conference with an overall record of 2-8.  The Lady Oaks will take a brief break in their conference schedule with a trip to La Sierra for a matchup against Embry Riddle this Sunday, October 2nd.  Action is slated for 1:00pm.
