First place was on the line in front of an exuberant Wunderlich Field crowd as the Lady Oaks played host to their rivals, Holy Names.  A Menlo victory could have meant a first place tie with the vaunted Hawks, but HNU put an end to that thought with a 3-0 win to move to 3-0 in the conference.  The Lady Oaks fall to 1-2 in the Cal Pac with an overall mark of 3-9-2. 

Holy Names took the air right out of Menlo's balloon, striking first in only the 6^th minute.  Hawks' senior Negine Mansour found the back of the net with the assist given to freshman Rebecca Hernandez.  For Hernandez, the forward from El Cerrito, CA, it was only the beginning as she put one home in the 30^th minute to give the Hawks a commanding two goal first half advantage.  Senior Monique Reyes was credited with the assist. 

The Lady Oaks had some opportunities in the second half but just couldn't seem to finish, as Holy Names wrapped up the afternoon with a third score to take the contest by a final of 3-0.  The aforementioned Mansour picked up her second goal of the game with senior mid-fielder Brittanie Perez taking home the assist. 

"I felt we did a better job on possession today, we just didn't finish our opportunities," remarked Menlo second year Head Coach Scott Myers.  "We did everything right, we just couldn't score.  I would say we are easily comparable to the number one team in the conference." 

The Lady Oaks will try to push their Cal Pac record back to .500 with a matchup on the road at Simpson this Wednesday October 19^th.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00pm.
