Redding, CA:
The Oaks just keep on rolling to their seventh victory in a row with a 6-1 shellacking at the hands (or talons) of the Red Hawks. Menlo improves their overall record to 9-3-1 and remain undefeated in the Cal Pac, now at 6-0. The Oaks have also not lost a contest since way back on September 10th behind a 5-2 defeat against Fresno Pacific.
Menlo was able to jump out to a convincing three score lead within the first 17 minutes thanks to goals by senior Matheus Barbosa, junior Alex Vukic, and freshman Guissepe Frattaroli. The teams went into the halftime break with the Oaks up 3-0.
The second stanza played out much like the first thanks to a barrage of three scores within a five minute stretch between the 59th and 64th minute to take a commanding 6-1 advantage. Vukic and Barbosa once again found the back of the net with freshman Enrique Ortiz responsible for the sixth goal. The dynamic duo of Vukic and Barbosa are now tied for the team lead in goals with six each while Ortiz earned his first score of the 2011 campaign.
Menlo will return home for Senior Day this Saturday, October 22nd against William Jessup. Kickoff is slated for 3:00pm with a special pregame ceremony to honor seniors Kristian Hagen, Sam Zipperstein, Pierre Ako, Jimmy Macias, and Matheus Barbosa.
