Atherton, CA:
The Lady Oaks took the Wunderlich Field pitch for the final time this season with seniors Adri Martinez, Elizabeth Castaneda, and Mallory Todd suiting up at home for the final time in their career. Despite the energy amongst the crowd and the emotion of the game, two William Jessup second half scores did Menlo in, as they lost by a final of 3-1.
The Warriors hopped out on top with a first half goal by junior Amanda Lopez in only the 4thminute. The score, which was set up on a Jessup corner was only the first of the season for Lopez, but gave the Warriors a great deal of momentum.
Credit the Lady Oaks as moments later in only the 8th minute, junior Alison Hammond found the back of the net off a Steffany Dudley header to even up the score at one a piece. Hammond notched her goal total to seven on the season while Dudley earned her first assist of the year.
In the second half with the score still deadlocked at one, Jessup's Alyssa Wimmer went off. Two second half scores by the junior from El Dorado Hills gave the Warriors a 3-1 lead, which was the eventual final.
With the defeat the Lady Oaks fall to 2-3 in the Cal Pac, officially excluding Menlo from the playoff picture. The Lady Oaks will try to bounce back as they travel to Mills College this Wednesday, October 26th, with action set to get underway at 4:00pm.
