Forest Grove, OR:

The Oaks flexed their muscles to the tune of two overwhelming dual victories, taking out the host team Pacific University 34-9, before a 28-14 nod over Yakima Valley Community College.  With the two wins, Menlo now improves to 6-3 on the season.

The Oaks came out rolling in the opening dual against the Boxers of Pacific University as Menlo's Drake Medeiros and Angel Garcia each won by technical fall's to take the 10-0 lead.  Pacific would bounce back however, doing so in a big way, as a Ryan Baxter Boxers pin followed by a Devin Silva decision (4-3) cut the deficit to 10-9.  The Oaks found a way to regain their composure and never looked back, as Menlo grabbed the next six matches and 24 points to pick up the 34-9 "W."  Among the Oak highlights, sophomore David Rios and senior Lenny Romero each earned pin victories as the dynamic duo continues their impressive 2011-12 campaigns.

Menlo's second dual against Yakima Valley CC was closer (28-14), but from start to finish it was clear that the Oaks had control.  Similar to the Pacific win, the Oaks came out firing on all cylinders as once again Medeiros and Garcia set the tone.  Medeiros opened things up with a pin over Yakima's Jesse O' Camb, which was promptly followed by a Garcia technical fall victory over Timoteo Silvas to give Menlo the 11-0 advantage.  The Yaks responded with two straight decision wins to cut the score to 11-6, but like the opener, Menlo proved their dominance by winning four of the next six matches to take the dual.  Of the four wins, Oaks freshman Nick Gill was able to earn a pin over Daneil Agao and fellow freshman Scott Brasil closed things out with a major decision nod over Steve Taylor.

Menlo will take Saturday off before returning to the mats on Sunday for two more duals against Douglas College and Simon Fraser.
