Atherton, CA:
Menlo came through swimmingly in their final tune up before Nationals, which is scheduled for January 28th. The Lady Oaks welcomed the University of the Cumberlands inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion and Menlo worked hard to pick up a 16-13 dual victory.
Before the two teams hit the mats, the Lady Oaks already had a 10-5 lead due to forfeits by each squads. Once the actual action got underway, Menlo's Michelle Jimenez set the tone with a dominating performance against the Cumberlands' Adreana Barrera. Jimenez used a lethal combination of quickness and strength in picking up a 5-0 victory to give the Lady Oaks a commanding 13-5 advantage.
After the Patriots' Sherri Berube took home a 5-1 win over Menlo's Jessica Marso, the Oaks ripped the momentum right back with a Jeanette Naranjo "W" against Liza Gutierez to make the score 16-8 in favor of Menlo. The Lady Oaks would hold on for a 16-13 victory.
Menlo will now set their sights on Nationals, which are set for January 28th in Bristol, Tennessee.
