Atherton, CA:

Cal Maritime entered Haynes-Prim tonight looking to keep their perfect Cal Pac record intact.  The Keelhaulers were an unbeaten 5-0 coming in while the Oaks were hoping to get above .500 in conference, checking in at 2-2.  Maritime used stellar second half shooting while finding a way to get to the free throw line in picking up a hard fought 74-63 win to stay perfect in the Cal Pac, now at 6-0.

The Keelhaulers shot an outstanding 52 percent from the floor in the second half and got to the charity stripe an impressive 28 times in the second frame as well, a big factor in their sixth straight "W."

Menlo trailed by six going into the break, but found a way to make it a game midway through the second period.  The Oaks' Tim Tatum nailed a jumper from the wing with 11:35 left in the contest to pull Menlo within one at 43-42.  The senior from Vacaville was held scoreless in the first half, but netted ten in the second frame to make it 14 straight games in which Tatum has scored in double digits.

After the Tatum bucket, Maritime found a way to go on a 7-0 run to seize the second half momentum.  Two Howie Manzo free throws and five Isaiah Moore points paved the way in giving the Keelhaulers a 50-42 lead with 9:46 to go.  From that point on the closest the Oaks came was within five points as Maritime was able to stall the potent Menlo attack.

The Keelhaulers' Josh Greenwell finished with a game high 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while Isaiah Johnson chipped in with 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Not to be lost in the action was the sound performances of Menlo's Alexander Engel and Malik Dunbar.  Engel finished his evening with a team high 12 points, including an outstanding 10-of-10 from the free throw line, while Dunbar fell just short of a double-double with eight points and 11 boards.

With the loss the Oaks drop to 2-3 in the conference and 4-17 overall.  Menlo will travel to rival Holy Names this Thursday, January 26th to take on the Hawks.  Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
