
Menlo's Alexander Engel was recognized today as a 2012 Daktronics-NAIA-Scholar Athlete for his remarkable year on and off the court. The academic based award went to the 5'10" senior guard for truly embodying the "student" part of student-athlete.
Engel, the native of Los Osos put together a stellar 2011-12 campaign on the court, averaging 5.0 PPG while serving as the team's starting point guard for most of the year. His 83.7% from the free throw line this year is one of the highest mark's in the program's all-time history.
Engel is also a member of this year's Dean's List for his outstanding academic achievement.
