Play of the Day: Final point to capture the Cal Pac title:

For the first time since 2009, Menlo can call themselves California Pacific Conference regular season champions, wrapping up the title with a convincing three-set sweep over Pacific Union inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion.  The Oaks (13-6) took home the conference crown thanks to set wins of 25-12, 25-11, and 25-20, rolling their match win streak to an impressive ten in the process, while staying unbeaten in the Cal Pac, now at 7-0.

"It's kind of hard to get too excited just because we know we have the postseason tournament coming up, so we just checked the first thing off of our list of goals that we wanted to accomplish," Oaks Head Coach Daniel Rasay said on winning his first regular season title in his Menlo coaching career.  "We are focused and ready to check something else off in the upcoming weeks."

Menlo took early control of the affair, jumping up two sets to none with overwhelming game victories of 25-12 and 25-11.  As a team, the Lady Oaks racked up identical .375 hitting percentages over the first two sets.

Sophomore Courtney Calicdan paved the way with a match high 14 kills, totaling a.407 hitting percentage, while senior Camille Miller led all players on the court with a .417 successful attack clip, chipping in with six crucial kills.

"It just feels so great," Miller said on the regular season championship.  "We had a meeting at the beginning of our season and this was one of our main goals.  We all wanted this and we worked really hard for it."

Although closer in the final set, Menlo created breathing room from a 14-13 Oaks advantage with four straight to go up 18-13.  Menlo would capture the set and match with a hard fought 25-20 win.

Senior Mika Mendoza produced a match high 19 digs, while fellow senior Stephenie Monderine led the Lady Oaks with 18 assists, trailing only the Pioneers' Lauren Woolley who had 19.

Menlo will now turn their sights on their remaining regular season conference tilts, as the Oaks are just two wins away from an undefeated Cal Pac record.  On Friday, October 26th Menlo will travel to UC Merced, before closing out the regular season on Friday, November 2nd with a home affair against William Jessup.
