San Luis Obispo, CA: 

Six of Menlo's nine wrestlers picked up at least two victories, as the Oaks compiled a solid performance in their first tournament of the year, the Meathead Movers Invitational presented by Cuesta College.  Junior Justin Harrison led the charge, rolling off seven straight victories to earn a 3^rd place finish in the Heavyweight Division, Menlo's lone placer of the day. 

"He was simply outstanding," fourth year Oaks Head Coach Joey Martinez said on Harrison's remarkable showing.  "It was just one of those days where Justin could not be stopped.  It was fun to watch." 

Harrison lost his opening bout to West Hills' Edgar Cortez, but then kicked it into high gear in racking up seven straight victories en route to his third place mark.  Of the seven "W's", two were via pins as Harrison got the best of Bakersfield's Sal Rosas and Palamar College's John Castle. 

Freshman Brandon Hoffman (165lb.) wasn't too shabby in his own right, stringing together a stellar 4-2 record in what was his first collegiate tournament as an Oaks grappler.  Two of Hoffman's four nods came on major decisions, taking out Sierra College's Andy Meadows, 12-1, and East LA College's Andrew Reel, 15-3. 

Hoffman was part of a trio of freshmen that did Menlo proud, as both Sameul Duchene and Charlie Guittari accumulated 3-2 marks, wrestling in the 157lb. weight class. 

The Oaks impressive display of youth did not go unnoticed by the aforementioned Coach Martinez.  "It's always nice to see our freshmen perform this strong this early in the season," Martinez said.  "Our young guys did a great job of putting some early jitters behind them and I am confident in their abilities going forward." 

Menlo will now set their sights on their much anticipated home opener, set for this Saturday, November 3^rd.  The Oaks will be tested with three duals on the day, clashing with Cal Baptist at 10:00am, Stanford at 11:30am, and Simpson at 1:00pm.
