Vallejo, Calif. – Menlo Men's golf took to the road this week for their first tournament of the 2013 spring season. The Oaks competed on Monday and Tuesday at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo, Calif. and placed ninth out of nine teams. Grand Canyon University took home first place with an overall score of 912 with three golfers finishing in the top ten. Sonoma State University and CSU-East Bay rounded out the top three teams in the tournament, shooting 921 and 936 respectively.
Junior James Walsh (Woodside, Calif.) led the Oaks in the tournament, placing 35th. Walsh shot 84 in round one, 88 in round two, and fired off his best round of the tournament with an 81 in the round three. Freshman Jeffrey Johnson (Santa Rosa, Calif.) was the team's second place finisher with a 256 for the tournament (84/86/86).
Menlo will return to action on March 11th when they travel to Livermore, Calif. to compete in the Notre Dame de Namur tournament.
