SAN MARCOS, Calif – Men and Women's Golf participated in the CSUSM Fall Classic this past week to continue their 2016-17 season. Hosted by Cal State San Marcos Cougars, The CSUSM Fall Classic was the second event of the year for the Men's and the first tournament of the year for the Women's. On the Men's side of the tournament, Victoria finished in first, whereas a young Menlo team finished 17th. On the Women's side, the host school CSU-San Marcos finished first, while Menlo finished tied for 12th.

For the Menlo Men's Golf, Douglas Burton finished tied for 61st for the tournament. He posted a +20 over par as he hit an 88 on the first day of the tournament and 74 on the second day to finish with a final score of 162. Colin Casey had the next best score for Menlo as he finished tied 63rd. Casey hit a +21 for the tournament, shooting 78 on the first day and an 85 on the second day to finish with a final score of 163. JJ Cadelina-Cahyete finished tied for 75th, posting a +25 for the tournament. Cadelina-Cahyete shot an 84 on the first day and an 83 on a second day finishing with a 167 for the tournament. Gavin Bean and Jared Finney finished 86th and 87th for the tournament. Bean hit a +35 for the tournament, posting a final score of 177 for the tournament. Finney hit a +41 and posted a final score of 183.

Women's golf had a successful weekend as well. Madison Holm had the highest finish for the Oaks as she finished tied for 40th. Holm hit an 80 on the first day of the tournament and an 87 on the second day, posting a final score of 167. Tiffany Chan had the second highest finish for the Oaks finishing 55th for the tournament. Chan hit an 89 on the first day and an 88 in the second day, posting a final score of 177. Alissa Thompson finished right behind Chan as she finished tied for 56th. Thompson shot 88 on the first day and 91 on the second day of the tournament finishing with a final score of 179. Vanessa Marshall rounded things out for the Oaks finishing 67th finishing with a final score of 192.

Menlo Women's golf will be a part of the Firestorm Fall Invitational that will take place on from Sunday, November 20th- Tuesday November 22nd.  While this was Menlo Men's Golf final event of 2016 season and will not have another event until the spring of 2017.
