Menlo College Women's Volleyball is off to a 10-3 start and is 1-0 in conference play. Part of that success can be attributed to the great play this week of a trio of players who swept the GSAC Volleyball Player of the Week honors. Monica Hruby was named the Setter of the Week, Maggie McDonald earned Attacker of the week honors and Hannah Hudson claimed Defender of the Week. The Oaks continue conference action this Friday at Hope International.
Monica Hruby – Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week
A big part of Menlo's success over the past week was the play of setter Monica Hruby. Handling all the setting duties all week long due to an injury to Menlo's only other setter, Hruby posted 50, 31, and 27 assist games in the three wins. She also had 12, 17 and 4 digs and was phenomenal from the service line with six aces, two per contest.
Maggie McDonald – Women's Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Junior Maggie McDonald had a breakout week for the Oaks, tallying 45 total kills in three wins including nine in the conference opener against William Jessup and 25 in a win over Pacific Union. McDonald also added 21 digs, a solo block and three block assists. The 25-kill game was a career best.
Hannah Hudson – Women's Volleyball Defender of the Week
Hannah Hudson had 55 digs on the week as Menlo went 3-0 defeating Pacific Union, UH-Hilo, and William Jessup in the GSAC opener. The senior from Sequim, Washington also had 5 aces for the week to add to her steady efforts from the service line.
