The Menlo College Athletic Department is proud to announce Dana Banke as the newest head coach of the men's golf program, and inaugural head coach of the women's golf team which is set to begin competition in 2013-14. The Northern California native is currently a class "A" PGA Member in good standing, and has had an extensive professional playing, teaching, and coaching career.
Banke has been the owner and head professional at Poplar Creek Golf Course in nearby San Mateo since 2008. Prior to Poplar Creek, the San Jose State graduate spent time as General Manager of Callippe Preserve Golf Course in Pleasanton, CA in 2007, and General Manager of the City of Alameda's Chuck Corica Golf Complex from 1996-2007. As far as coaching experience is concerned, Banke has had previous stints as assistant men's golf coach at NCAA Division I's University of California, Berkeley, and University of Nevada.
Banke will look to translate his widespread professional career, one that includes status as a PGA Member, European and Canadian Tour card holder, Head Professional at Poplar Creek and Adobe Creek Golf Club (Petaluma, CA), and Assistant Professional at San Francisco Golf Club and Meadow Golf Club (Marin, CA), into success here at Menlo College. He will also have the proud distinction of sitting atop the helm of Menlo College's first ever women's golf program. Banke has prior experience in the women's game after serving as the Assistant Women's Golf Coach at Monte Vista High School in Danville, CA.
Banke graduated from San Jose State, and currently resides in Danville.
