Head Coach - 4th Season

Joey Martinez enters his fourth year as Head Men's Wrestling Coach of his alma mater, Menlo College.  He served as an assistant coach for four years prior to taking over the reigns of the men's wrestling program in the 2009-10 season.  In three years under Martinez, three Oaks grapplers have earned NAIA All-American recognition, while an impressive eight have taken home sports on the NWCA/NAIA All-Academic Team. 

Martinez is set to be inducted into the Menlo College Athletic Department's Hall of Fame Class of 2012 on the weekend of October 19th-20th, 2012.  During his playing days, spanning from 2001-02, Martinez had a career as two-year career as good as any.  The Turlock native was a two-time NAIA All-American and a two-time Menlo College Team MVP.  Prior to Menlo, Martinez wrestled for Skyline Junior College where he shined as a two-time Junior College State Champion, going 61-0 to establish a new COA state record.  He currently holds numerous records at both Skyline and Menlo.    

Martinez graduated from Menlo College in 2003 with a degree in Psychology.  A native of Turlock, CA, he currently resides in Redwood City.

Assistant Coach - 1st Season

Mariano Sanchez enters his first year as assistant men's wrestling coach of his alma mater, Menlo College.  Sanchez spent two years grappling for the Oaks back in 2005 and 2007, after coming over from Fresno City College where he suited up for the Rams in 2003-04.  Before returning to Menlo, Sanchez spent five seasons as head wrestling coach at Orange Cove High School, where he took home two East Sierra League titles (2007 and 2009), while also developing two state qualifiers.  In addition to his work with the Oaks, Sanchez is also the club director for Pride Rock Wrestling Club in nearby Redwood City. 

A native of Orange Cove, CA, Sanchez currently resides in Redwood City.

Assistant Coach - 2nd Season

Jose Sanchez enters his second season as assistant coach as well as strength and conditioning coach of the Menlo College Men's Wrestling program, after enjoying a stellar career as an Oaks grappler.  Sanchez wrestled for three years in Menlo blue, earning an NAIA All-American distinction with his fourth place finish at nationals.  Prior to Menlo, Sanchez was a junior college national champion at Lasson College in Susanville, CA. 

In addition to his responsibilities as assistant coach, Sanchez is a personal trainer at Pacific Shores Athletic Club in Redwood City.  He graduated Menlo College in 2005 with a degree in Psychology.  Sanchez currently resides in Redwood City.

Assistant Coach - 2nd Season
 

Marcus Randolph enters his second season as assistant men's wrestling coach of his alma mater, Menlo College.  Prior to coaching the Oaks, Randolph spent four years (07-11) coaching at James Logan High School in Union City, helping lead the program to three North Coast Section finals appearances.  As junior varsity head coach at James Logan, Randolph compiled a 30-4 record in his four seasons at the helm.   Aside from his coaching duties, Randolph works as a junior high pastor at Abundant Life Christian Fellowship and has served on the Hillcrest Juvenile Hall (San Mateo County) chaplaincy since 2004. 

Randolph spent two seasons grappling for Menlo, competing under current Director of Athletics Keith Spataro from 2002-04.  He was a two-time NAIA national qualifier, as well as a two-time California Junior College state meet qualifier during his days at Chabot College.  Randolph graduated Menlo with a degree in Psychology. 

He currently resides in Palo Alto with his wife Kendra, a former UC Davis soccer player and current varsity coach at The King's Academy in Sunnyvale.
