Joey Martinez enters his ninth year as Head Men's Wrestling Coach of his alma mater, Menlo College.  He served as an assistant coach for four years prior to taking over the reigns of the Men's Wrestling program for the 2009-10 season.  In five years under Martinez, 13 Oaks grapplers have earned NAIA All-American recognition, including a national champion, while an impressive 13 have taken home sports on the NWCA/NAIA All-Academic Team. 

Martinez was one of six inductees into the Menlo College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012. During his playing days, spanning from 2001-02, Martinez had a two-year career as good as any.  The Turlock native was a two-time NAIA All-American and a two-time Menlo College Team MVP.  Prior to Menlo, Martinez wrestled for Skyline Junior College where he shined as a two-time Junior College State Champion, going 61-0 to establish a new COA state record.  He currently holds numerous records for his time as a wrestler at both Skyline and Menlo.   

Martinez graduated from Menlo College in 2003 with a degree in Psychology.  A native of Turlock, CA, he currently resides in Redwood City
